Joseph Ellwanger is a retired ELCA pastor who served at an African American congregation in Birmingham, Alabama from 1958 to 1967. He then served from 1967 to 2001 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in a central-city African American community, leading this congregation through a significant racial shift throughout those 34 years. He’ll share his personal insights from the Civil Rights Movement and his experiences in urban ministry. Pastor Ellwanger’s book, “Strength for the Struggle” will be available for purchase on July 16. Registration (through Adult Ed) is encouraged but not required. All are welcome, bring a friend!
