2010 Annual Meeting and Election Results

Here is a brief update of the February 21st 10:00 am Congregational meeting:

·        President Betty Birner appointed Liz McKay, as parliamentarian, Dick Cook as head teller, and Allison Pozdol as secretary for the meeting.

·        A quorum of 185 was needed to conduct business; 262 were present.

·        A brief report was given on the status of the AT&T building and the possible sale of 1213 N. Dunton.

·        The Congregation approved the ongoing leases at 1213, 1217, 1221 and 1237 N. Dunton and the sale of two cemetery crypts at Memory Gardens.

·        Reports from the staff, officers and Ministry Areas of the church were received.

·        Minutes of congregational meeting in 2009 were approved.

·        Changes in the Constitution were approved to bring our constitution in line with the ELCA model Constitution.

·        Four persons were elected to church council:  Dave Timm and Julia Piontek to their second two-year term; Shirley Garrison and Walter Grandberry to their first two-year term.

·        Outgoing Council members Betty Birner and Ed Hartman were thanked for their years of service on the council; Betty was additionally thanked for her gracious leadership as president of the Congregation these past two years.

·        The council presented a statement giving their response to the ELCA's action of Sexuality issues.

·        An operating budget of 1.535 million dollars was presented and approved for 2010.  Several other budgets for special funds were approved, too.

After the Congregational meeting, the Church Council had its first meeting of the new year and elected the following officers:

President:  Joe Meyer

Vice President:  Dave Timm

Secretary: Marilyn Dutcher

Treasurer:  Stan Broten

Financial Secretary:  Lorie VanScoyoc

Other members of Council for this next year are:  Julia Piontek, Allison Pozdol, Scott Gierke, Shirley Garrison and Walter Grandberry.
