Psalm 25:3-4
Show me your ways, O
Lord,
and
teach me your paths.
Lead me in your truth and
teach me,
for
you are the God of my liberation;
in you
have I trusted all the day long.
Lord,
sometimes it’s hard to be shown different ways. It’s not always easy to admit that there
is a knowledge gap somewhere that needs to be filled. To admit that I need you to teach me is
a humbling that I don’t always want.
And yet, rationally, I know that I have lots to learn. I know in my brain that there is more
for me to find out; but my heart likes to appear to be an expert. Especially, Lord, concerning my
child. I want to believe I am the
best parent I can be. I don’t want
to open my mind up to different and challenging thoughts... to admit I make
mistakes ... to admit I don’t know it all.
And to notice that I am living with the best teacher there is – my child
– who knows better than any of the books what is needed. Lord, lead me in your truth to a genuine
knowledge of parenting. Teach me
your paths to living together in health and peace. In you I have trusted all the day
long. Amen.

Thank
you for your faithfulness in participating in these morning prayers. I
have been blessed by praying with you every morning for the last few
years. These morning prayers will come to an end tomorrow, the 13th, as I
move to a new venue as part of my education. May the Lord bless you and
keep you.
